Senior Backend Engineer (Python)

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs
• Develop high-performance services using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django)
• Architect and optimize distributed systems and multi-database environments
• Design and manage database schemas, migrations, and performance tuning
• Collaborate on platform reliability, scalability, and security best practices
• Contribute to API design and OpenAPI schema management
• Support production systems, including incident response and release documentation
• Partner cross-functionally with engineering, product, and security teams

• 7+ years of professional Python development experience

Strong hands-on experience with both:

• Django (ORM, migrations, admin, application structure)
• FastAPI / Starlette (async routing, Pydantic, dependency injection)
• 3+ years of Rust development in production environments
• Deep understanding of ASGI vs WSGI, including async/sync boundaries
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB (schema design, indexing, query optimization)
• Experience with multi-database architectures
• Strong knowledge of OpenAPI schema design and API lifecycle management
• Experience managing Django migrations across multiple environments without data loss
• Proficiency with Linux, Docker, and containerized environments
• Strong understanding of secure development practices (OAuth, CORS, CSRF, secrets management)
• Excellent written communication skills (incident reports, release notes)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a FastAPI + Django hybrid environment
• Strong MongoDB experience (PyMongo, aggregation pipelines)
• Experience with Redis (caching, pub/sub, distributed locking)
• OAuth provider integrations
• Experience with encryption at rest (e.g., encrypted model fields)
• Kubernetes and Helm experience
• Exposure to SOC 2 Type II environments
• Familiarity with Pydantic v2 and performance optimization
• Prior experience in B2B SaaS platforms, ideally in cybersecurity
