Job description
The Specialist, IT Operations role is designed to support our IndyCar team by helping solve IT issues, working on support-based IT tickets, and helping deliver technical projects and improvements. This position is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, contributing to the overall performance and success of the team.
Role Dimensions:
Technical Support and Issue Resolution
- The Specialist will provide technical support to team members, troubleshoot and resolve IT issues, and ensure minimal downtime during critical operations. This includes working on support tickets and walk-up user issues.
System Maintenance and Upgrades
- Regularly maintain and upgrade IT systems to ensure optimal performance. This includes software updates, hardware replacements, and A/V improvements to support the team’s needs.
Project Delivery
- Collaborate with other IT Operation Engineers to deliver technical projects and improvements. The Specialist will take ownership assisting in technical workstreams, using their technical experience to advise and guide and ensure projects are completed on time.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with other departments, such as engineering and operations, to understand their IT needs and provide solutions. Effective communication and collaboration are essential to ensure the team’s success.
Innovation and Improvement
- Continuously seek out new technologies and methods to improve IT operations. The Specialist will strive to enhance the team’s performance through innovative solutions and proactive problem-solving.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Provide technical support to team members, troubleshoot and resolve IT issues, and ensure minimal downtime during critical operations.
- Regularly maintain and upgrade IT systems to ensure optimal performance, including software updates, hardware replacements, and network improvements.
- Collaborate with other IT Operation Engineers to deliver technical projects and improvements, taking ownership of technical workstreams and ensuring projects.

Work closely with other departments, such as engineering and operations, to understand their IT needs and provide effective solutions.
- Continuously seek out new technologies and methods to improve IT operations, enhancing the team’s performance through innovative solutions and proactive problem-solving.
- Using strong technical skills that span across a breadth of technology areas to find solutions to both typical and unconventional problems.
- Analyzing root causes to ensure permanent resolutions to complex issues.
- Be a point of contact for technical escalations from the IT support team.
Requirements
- At least 1-3 years’ experience in an IT support or operations environment.
- High Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving IT issues.
- Some experience in delivering technical projects and improvements, with the ability to take ownership of technical workstreams.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to seek out new technologies and methods to improve IT operations, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and enhancing team performance.
- Previous working experience of technologies such as:
- Collaboration tools like Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive.
- Enterprise technology, AD, Azure, Hyper-V, SCCM, Security Tools.
- End user software, Windows OS, Mac OS.
- MDM tools like Intune, Meraki, JAMF.
- Understanding of networking, enterprise applications and basic infrastructure concepts.
- Comfortable with supporting multiple Audio/Video hardware and software solutions for internal meetings as well as partner events.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL standards in incident, request, problem and change management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with peers, and stakeholders.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
- Good at problem solving and being organized in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences.
