Job description

The Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for an IT Support Center Analyst. The tasks include a range of activities from working on multiple, complex projects independently to functioning at a high level of technical variation and difficulty. Serves as a consultant and provides technical advice to other technicians, staff, and faculty. Provides consultation and advice on major implementations, ensuring services are not compromised and provides technical leadership on integration of various related systems. Provides high quality, prompt, and responsive user support services, as well as providing hardware and software technical support as needed. Solves routine computer operation problems and works closely with Systems Administrator to solve more complicated problems related to supporting and enhancing college servers and networking. Provides video teleconferencing support for the College. Provides classroom and conference room with audiovisual support as necessary.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and MacOS operating system installation and troubleshooting.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience supporting Microsoft Office, email applications, web browsers, Adobe applications, and other common desktop software.
  • Experience working with server and networked computing environments, TCP/IP, wireless networks, and software troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of mobile computing and mobile operating systems such as iOS and Android.
  • Strong understanding of desktop security best practices, including secure configuration, routine updates, endpoint protection, and safe user practices.
  • Ability to analyze, research, and solve technical problems effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment while interacting effectively with faculty, staff, students, and vendors.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise written and oral communication.
  • Ability to make decisions within the scope of responsibility or escalate problems as necessary., * Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with video teleconferencing and audiovisual equipment.
  • Experience providing documentation and training to end users.
  • Experience with university policies, procedures, and systems.
