Job description

Design, develop, enhance, and support CSF (Custom Statement Formatter) and Documerge templates for high volume batch and on demand customer communications (statements, letters, notices). Analyze and modify COBOL programs, copybooks, and JCL that drive document generation, data preparation, and print workflows. Perform reverse engineering of legacy CSF / Documerge templates, including RDLs, DDLs, rule bases, VLAM files, and associated COBOL logic to understand layout, rules, and data lineage. Map COBOL data structures and copybooks to CSF / Documerge form fields and variables, ensuring accurate population of document content. Develop and maintain JCL jobs for document generation, print processing, and downstream distribution (AFP / PDF / print streams). Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to document formatting, missing data, pagination, conditional logic, and batch failures. Support testing activities including unit testing, system testing, content comparison, regression testing, and UAT defect resolution. Collaborate with business analysts, CSF SMEs, QA teams, and migration teams to clarify requirements and validate document outputs. Create and maintain technical documentation covering CSF templates, COBOL logic, JCL flows, data lineage, and business rules to support ongoing maintenance or modernization initiatives. Provide input and support for legacy CCM modernization or migration programs (e.g., CSF / Documerge to modern CCM platforms) by extracting rules and specifications.

Requirements

Core Technical Skills: Strong hands on experience with CSF (Custom Statement Formatter) and Documerge in enterprise CCM environments. Advanced expertise in COBOL (batch oriented programs) including program analysis, enhancements, and debugging. Solid experience with JCL, job scheduling, restart/recovery, and batch performance tuning. Strong understanding of mainframe file structures, copybooks, VSAM / sequential files, and data movement. Experience working with rule driven document generation, conditional logic, and form assembly.

CCM & Document Processing Knowledge: Deep understanding of high volume document generation for customer communications (statements, policies, letters, notices). Experience with CSF RDLs, DDLs, rule bases, VLAM libraries, and layout definitions. Familiarity with AFP / PDF generation, print streams, and downstream print or distribution processes.

Analysis & Testing: Strong skills in reverse engineering legacy CCM solutions to extract layout rules, data mappings, and business logic. Experience supporting content validation, data comparison, and reconciliation between baseline and updated outputs. Ability to perform impact analysis across COBOL, JCL, and CSF / Documerge components.

Domain & Soft Skills: Experience in insurance or financial services environments is highly preferred. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams including business, QA, and architecture groups. Good documentation and communication skills to explain complex legacy logic.
