Job description

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Migration Engineer to support a large-scale Microsoft 365 transformation initiative focused on modernizing enterprise collaboration platforms. In this role, you will analyze existing SharePoint environments, develop migration strategies, and execute migrations of SharePoint and OneDrive content into Microsoft 365 while ensuring minimal business disruption., This is a 12-month contract supporting a global migration program with users across multiple regions. The ideal candidate is a SharePoint subject matter expert with hands-on enterprise migration experience who can bring technical expertise and recommend migration best practices. This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA, New York, NY, Lake Mary, FL, or Nashville, TN. This role follows a hybrid schedule with four days onsite per week., * Migration Strategy & Planning: Analyze existing SharePoint environments, collaboration platforms, and business content to assess migration readiness and develop migration strategies that align with business, security, and technical requirements.

  • Enterprise Migration Execution: Lead the migration of SharePoint Online, OneDrive, documents, sites, permissions, workflows, and metadata into Microsoft 365 while ensuring data integrity and minimizing business disruption.
  • Environment Assessment: Evaluate legacy environments, third-party applications, content structures, permissions, and user adoption to recommend the most effective migration approach and transition strategy.
  • Automation & Scripting: Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate migration activities, reporting, validation, and administrative tasks throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders, project teams, and internal SharePoint engineers to define migration waves, timelines, dependencies, and cutover plans while supporting enterprise-wide adoption efforts.
  • Migration Validation & Support: Validate migrated content to ensure completeness, metadata integrity, permissions, and usability while troubleshooting migration issues and supporting post-migration stabilization activities.
  • Documentation & Best Practices: Develop migration documentation, standards, runbooks, and governance recommendations while helping establish repeatable migration processes across future migration waves., * 5+ years of experience supporting SharePoint and Microsoft 365 environments

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, * Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale SharePoint and OneDrive migration initiatives
  • Strong expertise with SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Teams, and collaboration technologies
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting experience for migration automation and administration
  • Experience analyzing legacy collaboration platforms and developing migration strategies
  • Strong understanding of permissions, metadata, taxonomy, document management, and content lifecycle management
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams

Preferred Experience

  • Experience using ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager, or similar migration platforms
  • Microsoft Power Platform experience, including Power Automate
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 or digital workplace transformation initiatives
  • Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience
  • Consulting background with experience leading customer-facing migration projects
  • Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365, SharePoint, or Teams administration
