Job description
The PHP/Laravel Programmer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications using PHP and Laravel. This includes building backend features, database-driven applications, REST APIs, internal tools, reporting systems, and integrations with third-party services.
This role will also involve working in a Linux-based environment, including writing and maintaining Bash scripts, creating and maintaining Perl scripts, troubleshooting server-side issues, managing cron jobs, reviewing logs, and assisting with deployment-related tasks.
Secondary Responsibilities may include:
- Ability to provide a professional interface to internal and external customers and vendors
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues over the Phone and remote help using video conferencing software
- Ability to configure computers w.r.t installing hard drives, switches, routers and cables
- Provide operational support for the company’s network and hardware including PC/Computers/leaderboards/Head Phones and computer related equipment (Check Point Firewall/VPN devices are desired)
- Ability to Image Laptops, Desktops over different OS specially Linux platforms.
- Utilizing technical expertise for trouble shooting technical issues and system set ups
Requirements

This role is ideal for an experienced backend-focused developer who can build, maintain, and improve web applications, internal systems, APIs, and integrations. The right candidate should be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting production issues, and writing clean, maintainable code., Strong professional experience with PHP
Strong experience with Laravel
Solid understanding of MVC architecture and modern backend development practices
Experience designing and working with MySQL/MariaDB databases
Ability to write efficient SQL queries and troubleshoot performance issues
Experience building and consuming REST APIs
Strong Linux experience
Comfortable using the command line in a production or server environment
Experience with Bash scripting
Experience managing or troubleshooting cron jobs, logs, permissions, and server-side processes
Familiarity with Git-based workflows
Ability to debug legacy code as well as build new applications
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical team members
Preferred Skills
JavaScript experience
Node.js experience
Perl experience
Front-end experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript
Experience with Vue, React, Alpine.js, Livewire, or similar tools
Experience with API integrations, automation scripts, queues, or background jobs
Experience with server administration, Apache/Nginx, SSL, and deployment workflows
Experience working with legacy PHP applications and modernizing them into Laravel
Qualifications
5+ years of professional PHP development experience
2+ years of Laravel experience preferred
Strong Linux and command-line experience required
Experience working on production applications
Ability to take ownership of projects from planning through deployment
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior-level developer who is comfortable moving between application code, database queries, Linux servers, Bash scripts, and debugging production issues. They should be able to improve existing systems, build new features cleanly, and help guide technical decisions as the application grows., * Bachelor’s (Preferred), * PHP: 1 year (Preferred)
