Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Application Specialist to support and maintain a range of business-critical applications within a housing organisation. The successful candidate will provide second-line support across core housing systems, mobile solutions, digital applications and online services. This is a hands-on role focused on application troubleshooting, SQL, system maintenance and the ongoing improvement of live business applications., * Maintain and support core housing and business applications.

  • Provide second-line incident resolution and problem management.
  • Use SQL to interrogate data, investigate faults and support application troubleshooting.
  • Take ownership of technical issues through to resolution.
  • Identify recurring operational problems and implement improvements.
  • Manage application patching, upgrades, testing and releases.
  • Configure new fields, workflows and system parameters.
  • Monitor application performance, availability, capacity and security.
  • Work with third-party suppliers and external support providers.
  • Maintain technical documentation, procedures and knowledge articles.
  • Support change, release and application lifecycle management.
  • Provide clear updates and guidance to users throughout the resolution process.

Requirements

  • Strong experience supporting business-critical applications within a complex IT environment.
  • Good hands-on SQL experience, including writing queries and investigating data.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Previous experience supporting housing management systems or other line-of-business applications.
  • Strong incident investigation, problem-solving and application troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting application upgrades, releases and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Experience working with third-party software suppliers.
  • Good understanding of general IT infrastructure, databases and information security.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to end users.
