Java Developer / Programmer Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer / Programmer Analyst to support a Client. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development, SQL databases, Linux, and enterprise application support. This role involves designing, developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing large-scale applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams., * Lead coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of enterprise applications.

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications.
• Create technical documentation, flowcharts, and system diagrams.
• Analyze and optimize application performance.
• Design, develop, and maintain SQL database objects, packages, and triggers.
• Troubleshoot application issues by analyzing logs, system messages, connectivity, memory utilization, and disk performance.
• Coordinate software development activities across project teams.
• Develop programming standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Implement system enhancements and performance improvements.
• Create and maintain backup and recovery processes.
• Support production deployments and application maintenance.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams throughout the SDLC.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• 15+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• 10+ years of SQL database development and programming experience.
• 8+ years supporting and developing large enterprise applications within a team environment.
• 5+ years of Linux experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and supporting mission-critical applications.

Preferred Skills

• 8+ years working with Atlassian tools, especially JIRA.
• 8+ years working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience supporting State of Texas applications.
• Experience with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) environment.
• Experience migrating applications from legacy mainframe platforms to Java/SQL environments.
