Job description

We are seeking an Email Systems Administrator to support the Department of Treasury by providing advanced administration, technical expertise, and operational support for email systems (Exchange Online and on-prem), email security, Microsoft 365 (M365), Microsoft Teams, and Entra ID. The ideal candidate will lead a team in ensuring the secure and efficient operation of email and collaboration tools, while optimizing system performance and providing user support in a fast-paced federal environment., * Manage the operation and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange Online and on-prem environments, ensuring seamless email delivery, accessibility, and performance in hybrid configurations.

  • Oversee email security solutions, including anti-spam, phishing protection, and email encryption, ensuring compliance with Treasury security policies and federal regulations.
  • Configure, administer, and maintain core Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, and related add-ins, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Manage and optimize Microsoft Teams for effective collaboration, including troubleshooting, setting up policies, and enabling integrations.
  • Administer and support Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) for user authentication, single sign-on (SSO), conditional access, and directory synchronization in a hybrid environment.
  • Deploy and manage M365 add-ins, third-party integrations, and related tools to enhance productivity and collaboration.
  • Diagnose and resolve email, collaboration tool, and identity management issues, working with users and other technical teams as needed.
  • Monitor and optimize email and collaboration tool performance, ensuring effective resource utilization, system uptime, and capacity planning.
  • Provide support to end-users for email, calendar, and collaboration tools, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain configuration documentation, system performance logs, and monthly reporting on email and collaboration services usage and incidents.
  • Lead and mentor a team of administrators to ensure efficient delivery of 24x7 operational support and excellent service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 5 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Exchange, M365 administration, and email security support. Or Associates and 7 years or related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Exchange Online (O365) and on-prem environments, including hybrid configurations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams administration, configuration, and integrations.
  • Solid understanding of Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), including directory synchronization (e.g., AAD Connect), conditional access policies, and role-based access controls.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for task automation and system administration.
  • Familiarity with email security tools such as Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Proofpoint, Mimecast, or similar technologies.
  • Experience administering M365 add-ins and third-party integrations to enhance collaboration and communication.
  • Knowledge of federal IT security policies, protocols, and compliance standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain [Insert Required Clearance Level].

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience supporting IT operations within a federal agency, preferably the Department of Treasury.
  • Experience with email migration projects or large-scale system upgrades.
