Job description

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking an intermediate Data Analyst/Optics Engineer. Primary duties will involve the design, development, and testing of advanced algorithms as well as data reduction and interpretation of data from real-time optical sensor platforms. A well-suited applicant will be a self-motivating individual capable of working independently and within a team environment and possess good oral and written communication skills. The position also includes opportunities to work hands-on with land, sea, and air-based sensors both in the lab and supporting test events.

As a Data Analyst/Optics Engineer your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzingdata, algorithms, and their interaction to improve algorithm performance.
  • Interpreting data, performing statistical analysis, and analyzing results using statistical techniques.
  • Research and develop new analysis methodologies to improve analysis quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborating withcross-functional teams.
  • Presenting analysis to peers and management.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s Degree degree in physics, engineering, or similar technical discipline or equivalent experience AND 5+ years of related experience. OR
  • Master’s Degree degree in physics, engineering, or similar technical discipline or equivalent experience AND 3+ years of related experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance and ability to maintain
  • Multi-object detection, association, state estimation, and tracking
  • Multi-camera geometry and image calibration
  • Data fusion and filtering
  • Strong grasp of statistical methods and mathematical principles in data science algorithms
  • In-depth knowledge of statistics, probability, and machine learning concepts
  • Good computational software skills are required.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Java, C++, and Python is desired
