Job description

This position performs fire and safety equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs., · Inspect and test systems, batteries, and electrical wiring; make adjustments/repairs as required

· Replace malfunctioning hardware and panels when necessary

· Ensure systems comply with electrical and fire codes

· Explain and demonstrate system function and operation to end users

· Coordinate and work with outside contractors on major repairs

· Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

Education/Knowledge:

· High school diploma or GED

· Vocational/technical school training highly preferred

License/Certification:

· Valid Texas driver’s license

· BPAT license/Private fire hydrant tester certification

· RME General Inspector license and/or K-Type fire extinguisher license

Experience:

· Five years of related experience preferred, · Extensive knowledge of fire alarm systems

· Extensive knowledge of electrical and fire codes

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to read installation and system manuals

· Ability to read blueprints and building plans

· Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware

· Diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity issues

· Perform service calls to troubleshoot network interruptions or device replacements

Equipment Used:

· Computers

· Digital multimeters

· Tone and Probe kits

· Continuity tester

· Hand tools

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:

· Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders

· Physically able to install system hardware and wiring

· Must be able to lift 35 pounds at a time

Environmental Factors:

· Exposure to extreme hot and/or cold weather.
