Job description

Senior Reliability Engineer supporting the development of new life science technology within an R&D group. Provides hands-on reliability expertise for complex instruments, including lab testing, field failure support, and cost reduction/sustaining activities. Location: Milpitas, CA (Onsite 5 days/week). Temp-to-perm possibility.

  • Lead and monitor multiple reliability projects
  • Provide reliability risk assessments to cross-functional teams and leadership
  • Create and implement test plans to mitigate risks in new product designs
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary FMEA discussions to evaluate technical risk
  • Record, organize, and analyze large sets of detailed test data
  • Troubleshoot instrument failures and direct root cause investigations
  • Guide corrective action identification, implementation, and validation
  • Provide engineering input for new designs to ensure reliable, robust products
  • Support lab testing (30%), field failure review/solutions (40%), and cost-reduction/sustaining work (30%)

Requirements

  • Reliability analysis and reliability engineering fundamentals (life predictions, root cause analysis, environmental/accelerated testing)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Nice to have: DFMEA, electronics hardware design, fluidics, optics, test automation (LabView, Arduino)
  • Nice to have: Six Sigma tools, design of experiments, data tools (Minitab, MATLAB, JMP, R)

  • 5-10 years overall
  • Minimum 5 years of reliability engineering experience (or equivalent experimental/statistical testing experience); 2 years may be substituted with an advanced engineering degree

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline required
  • Willingness to work in a BSL2 lab and prepare blood samples for testing (training provided)
  • Ability to work onsite 5 days/week in Milpitas, CA
  • No drug screening required
