Job description

We are seeking a System Integration Lab Engineer to support the design, integration, testing, and operation of high-fidelity Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) and closed-loop laboratory environments. This role combines systems engineering, hardware integration, test facility development, and laboratory operations in a collaborative engineering environment. The engineer will contribute to test readiness, risk management, documentation, infrastructure planning, and continuous improvement initiatives., * Design, build, integrate, and validate HWIL and closed-loop test systems.

  • Support laboratory test bed development and ensure compliance with engineering and safety requirements.
  • Receive, stage, integrate, and troubleshoot hardware from multiple engineering teams.
  • Manage interface documentation and coordinate hardware, wiring, power, and data connectivity.
  • Participate in technical reviews, engineering meetings, and customer-facing status discussions.
  • Track laboratory risks, issues, mitigation plans, and escalation actions.
  • Collect and report key performance metrics related to lab utilization, testing progress, and system performance.
  • Support procurement and deployment of laboratory equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Manage parts ordering, receiving, inventory tracking, and vendor coordination.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as schematics, block diagrams, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Create electrical schematics and system architectures using industry-standard engineering tools.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase testing efficiency, reliability, and data quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware integration, laboratory testing, systems integration, or test engineering environments.
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) or closed-loop testing systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical testing, data acquisition, signal conditioning, and power distribution systems.
  • Experience with hardware integration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of aerospace communication protocols and engineering standards such as ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, DO-160, MIL-STD-810, and ARP4754.
  • Experience creating schematics and system block diagrams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio and at least one ECAD/design tool such as Zuken E3, Mentor Graphics, or Siemens NX/3DX.
  • Experience with MATLAB and/or LabVIEW.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with NI VeriStand or other real-time simulation platforms.
  • Previous aerospace or defense systems integration experience.
  • Experience supporting laboratory infrastructure projects and facility modifications.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, logistics coordination, and vendor management.
  • Exposure to KPI reporting, dashboard creation, and lab operations metrics.
