Job description

We are seeking an experienced Systems Integration & Test Engineer to support the development, integration, verification, and validation of complex software-intensive systems within a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) laboratory environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in system integration, test execution, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

As a member of the engineering team, you will own multiple system capabilities throughout the development lifecycle. You will be responsible for translating requirements into comprehensive test strategies, executing manual and automated testing, documenting results, investigating anomalies, and collaborating with software engineers to resolve issues.

This position requires a proactive engineering mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced integration environment.

What You’ll Do

Analyze system and subsystem requirements and develop comprehensive verification and validation strategies.

Create, maintain, and execute detailed test procedures and test cases to ensure requirements coverage.

Perform system integration and testing within a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) laboratory environment.

Document test execution results, maintain test logs, and provide clear status reporting.

Identify, reproduce, document, and track system anomalies and defects.

Partner with software engineering teams to investigate root causes and drive issue resolution.

Develop failure mode and edge-case testing scenarios to improve system reliability and robustness.

Support continuous improvement of test processes, methodologies, and quality standards.

Contribute to the design and implementation of automated test solutions and frameworks.

Collaborate with automation teams to expand test coverage and improve testing efficiency.

Communicate integration risks, testing strategies, and long-term hardware/software integration plans to technical stakeholders.

Utilize issue tracking and configuration management tools to support development and test activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

10+ years of experience integrating and testing software-intensive systems in a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) or similar laboratory environment.

5+ years of experience using defect tracking and collaboration tools such as Jira, GitLab, or GitHub.

5+ years of experience with test automation or scripting tools such as Python, Eggplant, or Cucumber.

5+ years of experience with mission planning concepts, operational workflows, or related system-level operational environments.

Experience developing and executing system, integration, and regression test plans.

Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks.

Experience with system verification, validation, and requirements traceability.

Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Ability to define and communicate long-term integration and test strategies.

Familiarity with complex distributed systems, simulation environments, or mission-critical applications.
