Job description
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and manage the daily administration, configuration, operation, and performance of enterprise computer systems supporting mission-critical business operations. The System Administrator is responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and efficient utilization of computer systems, servers, and network resources. This position provides technical leadership, performs capacity planning, optimizes system performance, and supports end users in accessing and effectively utilizing business systems., * Supervise and manage the daily administration, configuration, and operation of enterprise computer systems, including client/server environments and associated infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization to ensure optimal operation.
- Perform system capacity analysis and planning to support current and future operational requirements.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot operating systems, system software, and related hardware.
- Diagnose and resolve system, hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Implement system updates, patches, and upgrades while minimizing operational disruptions.
- Maintain system security by applying security policies, access controls, and required software updates.
- Perform routine system backups and assist with disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and technical changes.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to users regarding system access and business applications.
- Coordinate with network administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, company policies, security procedures, and applicable government regulations.
- Support after-hours maintenance, on-call support, and emergency response activities as required.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active Secret Security Clearance required; ability to maintain clearance throughout employment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in one of the above fields and three (3) years of general experience, including two (2) years of specialized experience; or
- No degree and eight (8) years of general experience, including six (6) years of specialized experience administering computer systems.
- Minimum of four (4) years of general information technology experience, including at least three (3) years of specialized experience administering computer systems.
- General experience includes operations support for large-scale computer systems or multi-server local area network (LAN) environments.
- Demonstrated experience administering Windows-based server and client operating systems.
- Experience monitoring system performance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience with system configuration, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, operating systems, storage technologies, and system administration best practices.
- Ability to analyze technical problems and develop effective solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide technical support to users.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Frequent use of computers, keyboards, monitors, telephones, and other office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry computer equipment, monitors, printers, and related hardware weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing as needed to install, repair, or replace equipment.
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Work is primarily performed in an office or customer worksite environment but may require travel between facilities and occasional work in server rooms, equipment closets, or other operational areas.
- Must be able to work safely around electronic equipment while following all applicable safety procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
