Job description

We’re partnering with a well-established technology company that’s investing heavily in modernizing its customer-facing platform. They’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership while remaining deeply hands-on in the design and development of modern web applications.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex frontend challenges, mentoring engineers, and working closely with Product and Design to deliver polished, intuitive user experiences. You’ll help shape frontend architecture, establish engineering standards, and influence the technical direction of products used by thousands of customers.

While the team primarily develops in Vue 3, they’re equally interested in engineers with strong production experience in React or Angular who are excited to work with Vue.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and develop scalable frontend applications using Vue 3, TypeScript, and modern frontend best practices.
  • Design reusable component libraries and establish frontend engineering standards.
  • Drive frontend architecture decisions focused on maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  • Partner closely with Product, UX/UI Design, and Backend Engineering to build intuitive customer experiences.
  • Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance web applications.
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers on architecture, clean code, and frontend best practices.
  • Develop unit and integration tests using modern frontend testing frameworks.
  • Optimize application performance through code splitting, lazy loading, caching, and other frontend optimization techniques.
  • Work with modern frontend tooling and build systems.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
  • Help shape long-term frontend strategy while remaining an active contributor.

Requirements

Must Have

  • 7+ years building production web applications.
  • Strong production experience with Vue 3, React, or Angular.
  • Strong proficiency with TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Experience architecting large-scale frontend applications.
  • Deep understanding of component-based architecture, state management, frontend design patterns, and application performance.
  • Experience building responsive, accessible user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and modern CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS.
  • Experience building reusable component libraries or shared design systems.
  • Strong understanding of frontend performance optimization and modern browser capabilities.
  • Experience with modern build tooling such as Vite, Webpack, or Rollup.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests using Vitest, Jest, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and establishing engineering standards.
  • Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and close collaboration with designers.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
  • Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with state management libraries such as Pinia, Redux, or similar.
  • Experience with Storybook or component-driven development.
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or other end-to-end testing frameworks.
  • Experience with SCSS, SASS, PostCSS, or similar styling technologies.
  • Experience working within highly available, secure, or regulated software environments.
  • Experience building large-scale customer-facing SaaS applications.
