Job description

AWS builds the custom silicon and platforms that power the world’s largest AI and machine learning workloads. We are looking for an exceptional Principal Technical Program Manager to own the most strategic, org-defining programs behind AWS’s AI accelerators - Trainium and Inferentia.

As a Principal TPM, you set the delivery strategy for programs that span silicon, hardware, software platforms, and ML frameworks, and you drive them across organizational and leadership boundaries. You bring order to the most ambiguous, highest-stakes problems - defining the mechanisms, the plan, and the critical path that many teams and multiple orgs execute against. You are a force multiplier: you raise the bar on how the entire organization plans and delivers, you influence roadmap and architectural direction through technical credibility, and you are the leader senior executives rely on for a definitive read on program health and the decisions that will make or break a launch. This is a rare opportunity to shape how purpose-built AI infrastructure is delivered at global scale.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and end-to-end delivery of the organization’s largest and most ambiguous cross-org programs - spanning silicon, hardware, software platforms, and ML frameworks.

  • Drive alignment and hold commitments across many teams, multiple orgs, and senior leaders; define the mechanisms that keep complex, multi-quarter programs transparent and on track.

  • Own the critical path across deep hardware/software dependencies; anticipate systemic risks and drive the trade-offs and decisions needed to protect strategic launches.

  • Influence roadmap, architecture, and investment decisions through technical depth and organization-wide perspective - not just track execution, but shape what gets built and in what order.

  • Serve as the definitive source of truth on program health for senior leadership; frame the narrative, the risks, and the decision asks that drive executive action.

  • Raise the bar on program management across the org - establishing and scaling mechanisms, mentoring TPMs, and elevating the delivery capability of the entire organization.

A day in the life You lead a cross-org alignment with engineering and program leaders to resolve a systemic dependency that threatens two launches, driving to a clear decision and owner. Mid-morning you pressure-test an architectural trade-off with a PE, using your technical depth to shape the direction rather than just record it. In the afternoon you mentor a senior TPM through a hard risk review, then refine the mechanism the whole org will use for the next planning cycle. You close the day with a concise executive narrative - the state of the strategic programs, the systemic risks, and the two or three decisions leadership must make this week.

About the team We are the platform organization behind AWS’s Trainium and Inferentia accelerators - the custom AI chips that deliver industry-leading price-performance for training and inference. Our programs sit at the intersection of silicon, hardware, and large-scale distributed software. We operate at the frontier of AI infrastructure, where the programs we deliver directly shape the cost and speed of AI for customers worldwide. We value ownership, structured thinking, technical depth, and a collaborative, high-trust culture where principal leaders multiply the impact of everyone around them.
