Job description

LHH is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist for a contract opportunity in New York, NY. This role will provide localized, white-glove IT support to approximately 220 users, partnering closely with stakeholders and the broader desktop support team to ensure timely, professional, and effective technical support.

The Desktop Support Specialist will serve as a key point of contact for end-user support, troubleshooting hardware, software, account, conferencing, and connectivity issues. This position requires a strong customer service presence, the ability to translate technical information for non-technical users, and a hands-on approach to supporting daily IT operations.

This role requires onsite support 5 days per week based on business needs, with the potential for remote support as appropriate., * Provide localized desktop and help desk support for end users, delivering a high level of customer service and stakeholder support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for IT issues, troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, account access, and connectivity concerns
  • Support meeting setups, Zoom/video conferencing, conference room technology, and technical needs for internal and client-facing meetings
  • Configure, deploy, and support desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, peripherals, and other IT equipment
  • Assist with IT inventory management, asset tracking, equipment coordination, and hardware repair processes
  • Troubleshoot Microsoft Office Suite/O365, Windows environments, Active Directory, VPN, wireless, and general network-related issues
  • Support password resets, account lockouts, archive restores, RSA setup and troubleshooting, and full disk encryption processes
  • Follow documented procedures, workflows, SOPs, and checklists accurately and consistently
  • Track assigned tickets from intake through resolution, ensuring timely updates and end-user satisfaction
  • Partner with desktop support teammates, administrative teams, and IT leadership to resolve issues and support business continuity
  • Provide hands-on support during a period of increased team need while the organization searches for a permanent hire

Requirements

  • 3+ years of IT experience in a help desk or desktop support capacity required; 4 to 6 years of experience preferred
  • Experience providing IT support in a professional services or corporate environment preferred
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/O365, Windows 10, Active Directory, and general technical troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, conference room equipment, and video conferencing tools
  • Working knowledge of VPN, wireless technologies, LAN/WAN networking, CLI, and enterprise Windows environments
  • Ability to provide professional, service-oriented support to both technical and non-technical users
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated consistency, reliability, and longevity in prior roles preferred
  • Ability to follow documented processes, checklists, and workflows with accuracy
  • CompTIA A+ certification preferred
  • Microsoft Technology Associate certification preferred
  • Dell Hardware Certification a plus
