Job description
Join a fast-paced Phantom Works program as a Mid-Level or Senior Design and Analysis Engineer in Berkeley, MO. This program is responsible for integrating complex tactical system-of-systems mission capabilities across sensors, mission management, communications, networks, and weapons/effector interfaces. This role focuses on end-to-end integration of multiple subsystems and external sources into a cohesive tactical mission capability that performs reliably in real operational environments.
You will help define, architect, and verify mission solutions that span payloads, distributed sensors, datalinks, and mission management functions. The role includes requirements definition, SysML/MBSE-based architecture modeling, system integration, verification, and stakeholder communication across engineering disciplines and program stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities:
- Define and manage system requirements and interfaces for system-of-systems mission integration across sensors, mission management functions, communications, and weapons/payload interfaces.
- Architect and document end-to-end mission system integrations, including system interdependencies, data flows, timing budgets, synchronization, and operational constraints.
- Develop and maintain SysML/MBSE artifacts that describe system architecture, functional decomposition, interface behavior, requirement traceability, and verification mapping.
- Support integration of onboard and offboard systems, including distributed sensors, datalinks, external mission services, and partner-provided capabilities.
- Develop and evaluate mission system logic related to sensor integration, track management, mission planning, state awareness, decision support, and effect coordination.
- Analyze failure modes, sensitivity, and robustness; define fault detection, degradation, and recovery behaviors for mission-critical, multi-system architectures.
- Produce concise technical documentation supporting design decisions, model assumptions, verification results, integration artifacts, and compliance/safety evidence.
- Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommended paths forward to leadership, customers, and cross-functional partners.
- Own assigned capabilities end-to-end, from requirements through architecture modeling, prototype, integration, verification, optimization, deployment, and sustainment.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to reusable patterns, standards, and integration best practices.
- Support demonstrations, technical reviews, and program execution as a key contributor to the team.
