Job description

Experteer Overview As a Software Engineer at PayPal, you will design, build, and scale applications that power global payments and cross-border commerce. You’ll contribute to both front-end and back-end components, including Web, REST APIs, and GraphQL services, while collaborating with product teams to shape Vault APIs. You’ll work in an agile environment, emphasizing test-driven development and automation to deliver reliable, secure software. This role offers hands-on work with modern tech and a chance to influence PayPal’s two-sided network at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Ruby on Rails, Java, or Clojure * Collaborate with product management to design Vault APIs * Develop front-end and back-end features across Web, REST APIs, GraphQL, and real-time/batch processing * Prototype ideas with cutting-edge technologies * Participate in Agile SCRUM processes with focus on TDD and automation * Refactor existing codebases and decide when to rewrite * Utilize standard SDLC tools (IDE, VCS, CI) * Partial telecommuting within commuting distance Tasks * Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience * 2 years backend web services experience and RESTful API design * 2 years Java or JVM environments experience * 2 years Git or other version control experience * 1 year SQL and NoSQL databases experience * 1 year web frameworks experience including OAuth and JSON * 1 year building cloud-based services on AWS (S3, Lambda) * 1 year functional programming concepts * 1 year Docker and Kubernetes experience * 1 year CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices Key requirements * comprehensive benefits * generous paid time off * healthcare coverage for you and family * balanced hybrid work model * equity or variable compensation opportunities * resources for financial security and mental health
