Job description

Experteer Overview As a Software Engineer at PayPal in San Jose, you will shape new features and product solutions from idea to deployment, impacting a scalable payments platform used across markets. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust software, while upholding quality and security. You’ll build high-throughput, multi-tier backend systems and contribute to performance and reliability in a fast-paced environment. This role offers the chance to work on core payments and risk-enabled capabilities within a mission-driven, collaborative culture. Compensation / Benefits * Design and develop new software features from conception to post-implementation * Collaborate with Scrum, Analytics, and Information Security to maintain quality and customer satisfaction * Build scalable, available software applications and systems * Develop and test high-throughput backend software and object-oriented components * Lead code reviews and design data-driven solutions for end-to-end analytics * Identify performance and scalability bottlenecks and reduce project risks * Engage with stakeholders to address performance and security concerns in subsystems * Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment * Partial telecommuting within commutable distance Tasks * Master’s degree or equivalent with two years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience * Object Oriented Programming in C++, Java, or Objective C * Web services and REST APIs, CSS, HTML, JavaScript * Data Structures and Algorithms * SQL and NoSQL databases * Cloud services (Google Analytics / GCP) * Linux/Unix environments * Developer tools (JIRA, GIT) * Multithreading * Experience with data-driven solutions and scalable Java web services Key requirements * balanced hybrid work model * generous paid time off * healthcare coverage for you and your family * resources to support mental health and financial security
