Job description

Role purpose: Design, build, and deploy AI/ML solutions that deliver measurable business impact, with an emphasis on scalable, reliable, and secure production systems., * Develop and productionize machine learning models, including training, evaluation, and deployment.

  • Build data pipelines and feature engineering workflows to support model lifecycle needs.
  • Implement MLOps practices: CI/CD for ML, model versioning, monitoring, and automated retraining.
  • Integrate AI services into applications via APIs and collaborate with engineering and product teams.
  • Optimize model performance, latency, and cost; troubleshoot issues in production environments.
  • Document solutions, ensure reproducibility, and support governance, privacy, and compliance requirements., Do you want to make an impact with technology by automating processes and bringing AI solutions into production? As an AI Engineer within the Business Optimization team, you will build the Azure-based foundation that our data scientists and operational teams rely on every day.

What are you going to do?

As an AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and managing the technical foundation on which the Business Optimization team’s applications run. These applications enable us to automate operational processes and safely and scalably deploy AI solutions into production. You will translate business ideas into robust, maintainable, and reusable solutions that create real value for our operations.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing architectures for data, AI, and automation solutions
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and platform services to ensure use cases can be deployed quickly and reliably
  • Supporting data scientists with engineering challenges related to deployment, scalability, performance, monitoring, and security
  • Helping automate manual tasks and integrating AI solutions with operational systems and processes
  • Ensuring the stability, compliance, and reusability of solutions within the enterprise landscape

Requirements

  • Programming: Python (preferred), plus experience with software engineering best practices and testing.
  • ML frameworks: PyTorch and/or TensorFlow; familiarity with classical ML and deep learning.
  • Data: SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and working with large datasets.
  • Deployment: REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • MLOps: Experiment tracking, model registry, monitoring, and drift detection.
  • Communication: Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and explain model results.

Success measures

  • Models deployed reliably with clear monitoring and measurable improvements in key metrics.
  • Maintainable, well-documented pipelines and services that scale with product needs., * Proven experience with the Microsoft Azure platform, such as Azure Service Bus, Azure DevOps, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Storage, Networking, and Security
  • Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), containerization (e.g., Docker and Kubernetes), and cloud engineering principles
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with APIs and integrations
  • Affinity with data and AI solutions and experience supporting data scientists in bringing models and solutions into production
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and strong communication skills
  • You are fluent in English. Proficiency in Dutch is a plus

  • Salary between €4,527 and €6,036 based on 36 hours per week and depending on your knowledge and experience
  • 13th month and holiday allowance are paid with your monthly salary

You will join the Business Optimization team, a multidisciplinary team consisting of data scientists, data analysts, process managers, and risk managers with a strong focus on automation and process improvement. Together, we work to reduce manual activities within NN’s operational departments.
