The Network Performance Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network performance systems to ensure optimal operation and visibility across the organization’s infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Gigamon VUE, network taps, Riverbed, NetFlow, Broadcom NetOps, packet capture analysis, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Design, deploy, and maintain network performance monitoring solutions.

Configure and manage Gigamon VUE, network taps, Riverbed, NetFlow, Broadcom NetOps, packet capture analysis tools, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Perform packet capture and analysis to troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
- Analyze network traffic and performance data to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure network visibility, compliance, and security.
- Develop and maintain documentation for network monitoring systems and processes.
- Provide technical guidance and support for network monitoring and firewall tools.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in network performance and security.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in network performance engineering or network monitoring.

Strong knowledge of Gigamon VUE, network taps, Riverbed, NetFlow, Broadcom NetOps, packet capture analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark), and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Experience with network analysis, troubleshooting, and firewall management tools.
- Familiarity with network protocols and architectures (TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Network+, Riverbed Certified, Palo Alto Networks Certified) are a plus.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration.
- Experience with additional network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
- Experience in large enterprise or federal environments.
- Project management experience. Note: This role requires candidate to be onsite 5 days/week at SSA HQ in Woodlawn, MD
