Job description

Join a high-impact team as a senior Java Developer, leading enterprise-level projects for the State of Texas. This is an opportunity to drive innovation, mentor team members, and shape critical systems supporting statewide operations. You’ll work in a collaborative, Agile environment with a focus on large-scale application development, modernization, and performance optimization. Responsibilities

Oversee coding, testing, debugging, and documentation to meet rigorous technical and functional requirements
Prepare and review flowcharts, diagrams, and end-user documentation to ensure smooth production runs
Lead research, analysis, and planning for new projects, system modifications, and proposals
Evaluate database schemas, write and execute SQL code, and optimize application performance
Troubleshoot application issues by analyzing logs, system messages, and resource utilization
Develop programming standards, procedures, and detailed technical documentation
Implement backup and restore processes to maintain business continuity
Coordinate, assign, and track project tasks across development teams

Requirements

15+ years: Java development in large-scale, enterprise environments

10+ years: SQL database design, development, and performance tuning
8+ years: Application support and development within team settings
5+ years: Linux administration and scripting Preferred Skills
Atlassian tool suite proficiency, especially JIRA
Agile methodology expertise
Experience with State of Texas applications, specifically Texas Department of Public Safety systems
Transitioning legacy mainframe applications to Java/SQL platforms
