Security Engineering Manager, AWS Foundational & Hardware Security

Experteer Overview As Security Engineering Manager, you lead the Foundational & Hardware Security team to secure AWS hardware platforms from custom silicon to edge devices. You will shape security roadmaps across silicon design, firmware, and platform tech, partnering with hardware and software teams to embed security by design. You drive multi-year hardware security strategy, shepherd risk-driven improvements, and influence external vendors and standards bodies. This high-impact role blends hardware engineering leadership with security mastery to protect AWS’s global infrastructure. Compensation / Benefits * Lead and grow a team of security engineers with a culture of technical excellence * Influence hardware engineering roadmaps from silicon design to deployment, embedding security early * Define multi-year hardware security strategy for custom silicon, firmware, TPM/HSM, edge devices, and IoT security * Verify end-to-end security controls across hardware, firmware, and platform technologies through assessments and threat modeling * Drive prompt resolution of hardware security issues across silicon, firmware, and platform layers * Communicate risk and program status to AWS Security leadership, including the CISO * Develop training, onboarding, and career development for the security team * Represent AWS Security with external partners, silicon vendors, and standards bodies * Establish scalable hardware/firmware security review, tooling, and detection across global hardware fleet Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field * 4+ years of hardware/firmware design or virtualization expertise * 3+ years of managing and developing security engineering teams * Knowledge of chip-level security architecture, secure boot, and hardware root of trust * Knowledge of secure firmware development lifecycle, integrity verification, and vulnerability management * Understanding of IoT/device hardware security concepts (attestation, secure provisioning, hardware isolation, OTA) * Understanding of platform and hypervisor security and hardware-software interfaces * Proven ability to influence engineering teams on security strategy and roadmap Key requirements * health insurance * 401(k) matching * RSUs * flexible work hours * paid time off * parabolic parental leave
