Fully Remote Network Transport Engineer Nokia / ALU

Experteer Overview In this role you design and engineer packet-optical transport solutions for metro and long-haul networks, working with cutting-edge optics and carrier-grade infrastructure. You will validate fiber routes, perform optical design calculations, and deploy DWDM/ROADM systems, contributing to migrations from legacy technologies to OTN/IP networks. You’ll troubleshoot impairments, validate 400G/800G coherent solutions, and maintain documentation and service delivery artifacts. This remote, customer-facing role focuses on delivering reliable, high-capacity transport networks aligned with the company’s transformation projects. Compensation / Benefits * Design and engineer packet-optical transport solutions across metro and long-haul networks * Validate fiber routes and perform optical design calculations (power budgets, OSNR) * Characterize fibers (OTDR, CD, PMD, ORL, Insertion Loss, spectral analysis) * Engineer and optimize DWDM and ROADM networks on Ciena platforms * Deploy, test, and commission fiber transport; support migrations from SONET/TDM to OTN/IP * Troubleshoot optical impairments affecting DWDM/OTN performance * Deploy/validate 400G/800G coherent optical tech * Maintain service orders, circuit records, A-Z paths, and documentation * Develop Method of Procedure (MOP) and rollback plans; maintain as-built drawings and topology docs * Support maintenance and post-implementation validation Tasks * Extensive experience with transport, optical, and carrier-grade network engineering * Strong background with Ciena and Nokia transport platforms * Experience with fiber characterization and optical performance troubleshooting * Knowledge of IP/MPLS routing and packet transport technologies * Experience supporting wireless backhaul environments * Nokia Optical Network Certification (ONC/OSC) or similar * Ciena Optical Certifications (OC-A, OC-P, OC-C) or MCP * CCNP and other certifications listed in description * EXFO or VIAVI fiber testing certifications (if applicable) Key requirements * Medical, dental & vision * 401(k) retirement plan * Life Insurance * Disability (short & long-term) * HSA * Transportation benefits
