Job description

Job Summary: This role is responsible for leading IT engineering services, estimates & designs leveraging best practices and standards., Client is seeking a Lead Software Application Packager who will play a primary role in ensuring seamless, error free packaging within the global organization. The Software Packager will be responsible and accountable for ensuring wrapper methodology follows established standards, process, and workflows. Packaging involves building silent and attended installation packages and performing initial installation testing on Windows 10 and 11 before handing off for QA, business testing, and pilot phases.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall software application packaging and deployment, managing a team of experienced and apprentice employees to perform work within standards, key operating procedures, and service level agreements.
  • Collaborate with application owners and stakeholders to analyze packaging requests, gather requirements, determine complexities, and author software deployment packages in MECM (SCCM) and Intune by following standard SDLC process.
  • Package applications for silent and attended installations in MSI + MST, MSIX, and INTUNEWIN formats including development testing, application owner signoff, submission to QA, and pre-pilot deployments with early lifecycle support. Some deployment management is required for enterprise class applications with phased roll outs.
  • Maintain registration records for software titles, including application owners, versions, package lifecycle status, vendor data, etc.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum meetings and provide reporting on packaging activities. Contribute to resource planning based on defined organizational objectives.

Requirements

Ability to work with sensitive data, which requires them to be a, Years of Experience: 9+

Type of Experience: Experience in a mature, enterprise IT environment supporting 1-2 domain projects., * Bachelor’s Degree required, with 9+ years combined experience in software packaging, packaging management, and software deployment.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority.
  • Working knowledge in Intune with regards to Application and Device Management, App Control Policies, Configuration Policies, AutoPilot and Compliance Policies
  • Experience working in Co-Managed environments and migrating applications from MECM to Intune.
  • Must be able to operate in an environment driven by customer service and teamwork, utilizing strong troubleshooting and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must have direct experience with MECM (SCCM) and Intune consoles with packaging modules/objects. Knowledge of MECM OSD Task Sequences and Intune Autopilot is required.
  • Must have experience with packaging applications for Windows 11
  • Must have experience with using tools for packaging such as InstallShield, Admin Studio, Win32 Content Prep Tool, and Winget.
  • Must possess exceptional knowledge of PowerShell.
  • Should have experience with troubleshooting MECM and Intune clients, logs, and package installation problems.
  • Should have experience in applications, upgrades, and retiring old or end of life software.
  • Ability to meet packaging service level agreements and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms
  • Advanced experience with MECM Current Branch and Intune
  • Experience with enterprise privilege management allow and deny lists with products such as Ivanti and Intune
