Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you drive the design and validation of silicon photonics photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for optical engines, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet system requirements. You own PIC designs from concept through fabrication and testing, shaping device and system-level optimization. You’ll contribute to large-scale silicon photonics circuits and interface with IC, substrate, and packaging teams to ensure co-designed solutions. This is a hands-on, multidisciplinary role at Nokia, focused on advancing connectivity through photonics innovation. Compensation / Benefits * Own Tx and/or Rx PIC designs and communicate performance and requirements to cross-functional teams * Evaluate optical link budgets, RFEO performance, and power consumption, and verify against requirements * Define test requirements and collaborate with test team to prepare comprehensive test plans * Own and generate PIC performance documents to track metrics across R&D and production variants * Evaluate new design approaches and optimize device-level and system-level performance * Interface with mixed-signal IC, substrate, packaging, and simulation teams to ensure co-designed solutions * Contribute to validation of photonic IC in optical engines and ensure system requirements are met Tasks * MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or Applied Physics * Hands-on experience in silicon photonic device design, characterization, and modeling * Proficient with optical and RF simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, HFSS, ADS) and photonic circuit design * Proficient in Python or C/C++ with strong understanding of optics and electromagnetics * 2+ years of experience in silicon photonics design, testing, and characterization Key requirements * Flexible and hybrid working schemes * Maternity and Paternity Leave (min 90 days) * Life insurance * Well-being programs * NERGs (employee resource groups) * Career & skills development
