Job description

We are seeking an experienced OpenText & OCR Data Migration Consultant to lead the extraction, transformation, optical character recognition (OCR) enrichment, and migration of large-scale unstructured document repositories into OpenText platforms. In this role, you will design end-to-end migration strategies, build automated migration pipelines, implement advanced OCR processing for legacy document scans, and ensure complete data integrity, compliance, and legal hold alignment during transition., * Migration Architecture & Strategy: Design, document, and execute end-to-end data migration strategies from legacy enterprise content repositories (e.g., FileNet, SharePoint, Documentum, file shares) to OpenText platforms (e.g., Content Server, Extended ECM / xECM, Documentum).

  • OCR Integration & Document Processing: Implement and optimize automated OCR pipelines (using tools like OpenText Capture Center / Kofax / ABBYY FineReader) to convert scanned PDFs, images, and unindexed assets into searchable text prior to or during ingestion.
  • ETL & Data Transformation: Build, configure, and maintain scripts and migration pipelines for metadata mapping, taxonomy alignment, structural restructuring, and bulk document ingestion.
  • OpenText Environment Configuration: Configure target OpenText repositories, including folder structures, categories, attributes, permissions (ACLs), retention schedules, and metadata schemas.
  • Data Cleansing & Validation: Perform pre-migration automated data profiling, automated metadata enrichment, and post-migration validation checks to guarantee zero data loss and preserve audit trails/timestamps.
  • Performance Tuning & Error Handling: Monitor migration execution, manage batch schedules, troubleshoot extraction/ingestion errors, and optimize pipeline throughput for terabyte-to-petabyte scale migrations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Information Governance, Security, and business teams to align taxonomy, security controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • OpenText Expertise: Hands-on experience with OpenText Content Server, OpenText Extended ECM (xECM), or OpenText Documentum, including Object Importer, Enterprise Connect, and REST APIs.
  • OCR & Capture Software: Proficiency with enterprise OCR engines such as OpenText Capture Center (OCC) / TeleForm, Kofax ReadSoft/TotalAgility, or ABBYY FlexiCapture.
  • Migration Tools: Practical experience using enterprise migration utilities (e.g., OpenText Migration Center, FME, Fastman, or custom API-driven scripts).
  • Scripting & Automation: Strong proficiency in PowerShell, Python, SQL, or Java for scripting ETL automation, data manipulation, and batch ingestion.
  • Database & Metadata: Strong skills in writing SQL queries (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) for metadata extraction, staging table generation, and data reconciliation.

Core Competencies

  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) concepts: taxonomy design, retention policies, legal holds, ACL security mapping, and metadata inheritance.
  • Experience handling legacy formats (TIFF, multi-page PDFs, legacy image formats) and text recognition quality tuning (deskewing, noise reduction, image optimization).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct data audit reports, volume reconciliation, and compliance validation post-migration.

Education & Certifications

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Preferred Certifications:

  • OpenText Content Server / xECM Certified Consultant or Administrator
  • Kofax / ABBYY / OpenText Capture Center Professional Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud migrations (AWS, Azure) for OpenText implementations.
  • Background in SAP / OpenText xECM integrations.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries (e.g., Financial Services, Healthcare, Energy, Life Sciences).
