Experteer Overview As a Virtual Propulsion Analysis Engineer, you will own end-to-end propulsion simulations to support architecture development aimed at improving energy efficiency and performance. You will work with cross-functional teams to evaluate ICE, hybrid, and electric propulsion concepts, driving data-driven decisions and trade studies. Your work shapes next-gen propulsion systems and requires building robust models, automation, and clear technical communication. This role offers the chance to impact vehicle energy performance within GM’s broader mission of safer, cleaner mobility. Compensation / Benefits * Lead virtual development activities: create simulation plans, build models, run analyses, and deliver results to meet timing and quality targets * Quantify effects of propulsion technologies (engine, hybridization, electrification) on energy consumption, performance, and drivability for various configurations * Support product teams and leadership with analytical evaluation of proposed architectures (ICE, HEV, BEV) * Collaborate with Design, DREs, Validation, Architects, suppliers, IT, and other CAE teams to define requirements and ensure system-level performance * Perform energy consumption and performance analyses, conduct quick trade studies to evaluate design alternatives * Present analytical results to project teams and leadership * Develop and improve processes, tools, and automation (Python, Tcl/Tk, AI/ML) to streamline workflows and support GM Defense requirements Tasks * BS in Engineering * 5+ years’ propulsion or related engineering experience * Proficient in MATLAB and Simulink * Experience with analysis/simulation tools (AMEsim, GT Suite, Unified Model Verde) or similar platforms * Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical operation principles * Knowledge of engines, transmissions, drive units, power electronics, and battery technology * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with business partners to achieve goals * Independent thinking and teamwork skills * Eligibility to work in the U.S. or visa/export authorization eligibility Key requirements * hybrid work model * potential relocation benefits * total rewards resources * accommodations for disabilities * inclusive workplace culture
