Job description

Build, operate and continually enhance Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Take ownership of technical implementation decisions and platform engineering best practice
Design, build and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
Develop and maintain GitOps CI/CD pipelines
Manage Kubernetes networking, service mesh and gateway technologies
Improve platform observability using Grafana, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry
Maintain platform security, resilience and automation
Troubleshoot production platform issues and drive continuous improvement
Work closely with architects to turn high-level designs into robust technical solutions
Support and mentor engineering teams in adopting modern Azure and cloud-native engineering practices

Requirements

Strong commercial experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), which is essential
Experience with Kubernetes platform engineering in production environments
Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
Experience with Docker, GitOps and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with Linux and Bash scripting
Experience with Grafana, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry
Experience with Kubernetes networking and service mesh technologies
Experience operating, troubleshooting and automating production platforms
Experience owning technical implementation decisions rather than simply delivering against architectural designs
Confidence working independently on complex engineering challenges
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience supporting, coaching or influencing engineering teams to adopt modern cloud engineering practices
A collaborative approach to working alongside architects while retaining ownership of technical delivery
Experience with Cilium, Istio, ArgoCD or Flux, Kafka or Redpanda, Helm and Kustomize, Python automation, or Policy as Code tools such as OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno is advantageous
