Job description

Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Cognos Developer with strong SQL expertise and hands on Cognos administration experience to design, develop, and optimize enterprise reporting solutions. This role focuses on delivering high-quality BI reporting while ensuring platform stability, performance, and scalability.The ideal candidate combines deep Cognos development skills (70%) with administrative and platform support expertise (30%), and has a strong ability to work with large datasets in a financial or enterprise environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Cognos reports, dashboards, and Framework Manager models. Build scalable and reusable reporting solutions for complex business requirements. Develop pixel-perfect, burst reports, and interactive dashboards. Optimize report performance by improving query design and data retrieval strategies. Create and maintain Cognos data models, packages, and metadata layers. Implement parameterized reports, drill-through capabilities, and scheduling logic. Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions. Write highly optimized complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views. Analyze query execution plans and implement indexing and tuning strategies. Work with large-scale datasets (millions to billions of records). Design efficient data models supporting reporting and analytics. Determine best placement of logic between Database layer (SQL), Cognos layer (report logic). Manage and maintain Cognos environments (Dev, QA, Prod). Configure: Security (LDAP/AD integration, roles, permissions), Data sources and connections, Content store management. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot Report failures, Query performance issues, Scheduling problems Support deployments, migrations, and upgrades of Cognos environments. Manage report scheduling, bursting, and distribution. Implement best practices for governance, version control, and environment, Make sure they are within 100 Miles Reporting & Development Develop and maintain Cognos reports, dashboards, and Framework Manager models. Requirements

stability. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 6+ years of experience in Cognos BI development. Strong expertise in: o Cognos Analytics o Framework Manager o Report Studio / Dashboarding Advanced SQL skills (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL). Experience with AWS redshift and AWS environments. Experience working with large enterprise datasets. Hands-on experience with Cognos administration tasks. Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in financial services / asset management domain. Experience migrating legacy reports into Cognos. Exposure to modern BI tools (Power BI, Tableau). Knowledge of ETL tools and data pipelines. Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Snowflake).
