Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cognos Analyst to join our dynamic Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining comprehensive reporting solutions using Cognos Analytics, ensuring data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data analysis, database management, and visualization tools, contributing to our strategic initiatives through insightful dashboards and reports. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex data projects within an innovative environment committed to excellence and continuous improvement., * Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Cognos Analytics to support business operations and strategic planning.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data models and reporting solutions.
  • Perform data analysis utilizing tools such as R, Python, SQL, and Excel to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process optimization.
  • Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure accurate data integration from various sources including Oracle, SQL Server, and other databases.
  • Manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, testing, deployment, and maintenance of BI solutions.
  • Optimize database performance through efficient query management and database design techniques.
  • Utilize visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI alongside Cognos to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Support Agile project management methodologies by participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and iterative development cycles.
  • Conduct analysis of business processes to identify areas for automation or improvement using tools like VBA, Bash (Unix shell), Talend, or Looker.
  • Document technical specifications using Visio or similar diagramming tools while ensuring compliance with best practices in business intelligence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Cognos Analyst or Business Intelligence Developer with a strong understanding of Cognos Analytics platform.
  • Proficiency in SQL programming with extensive experience working with SQL databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data visualization and dashboard development using Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar tools.
  • Solid knowledge of ETL processes and tools like Talend or custom scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) along with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in database design principles and data model development for scalable BI solutions.
  • Familiarity with business analysis techniques to translate complex requirements into technical specifications.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets accurately.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence concepts including linked data integration and reporting best practices.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively across diverse teams while maintaining attention to detail.
