Job description

The Data Architect supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in a senior-level position that bridges the gap between business requirements and technical execution. The Data Architect will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing an organization’s data architecture to ensure it supports strategic mission goals and vision. The Data Architect’s primary mission is to create a supporting vision and blueprint for data management systems. This involves everything from the initial design to the long-term maintenance of the data environment. To be effective, the Data Architect must possess a deep understanding of database technologies, programming, and advanced analytics., Developing an overall short term (next 2 years) and long term (5-7 year) organizational data strategy aligned with business or mission processes the strategic mission goals.

  • Designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models to guide data structure and flow.

  • Coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate technical functionality and ensure data accessibility.

  • Implementing and auditing security measures to protect data integrity and ensure compliance with governance policies.

  • Planning and executing large-scale data solutions.

  • Managing the end-to-end data lifecycle, from platform selection to testing and implementation.

Requirements

Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • 10, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience

  • May be reduced with completion of advanced education

  • 5, or more, years of directly related experience

  • 1, or more, years of experience working in a management or leadership role Must be proficient in SQL development, database administration, and both RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) or equivalent.

  • Must have a mastery of visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau or equivalent to present complex data insights.

  • Strong coding skills for automation and data manipulation like Python, Java, C/C++, Perl or equivalent.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Understanding of Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and predictive modeling.

  • Familiar with MBSE and incorporating AI into legacy systems to streamline data output - Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification

  • Cloud-Specific Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Data Engineer.

  • Cloudera Certified Professional (CCP) Data Engineer certification

  • Oracle Database PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional

This position is onsite at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL and expected to pay $160,000 - $200,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position
