Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will support the state’s WAN/LAN networking infrastructure within the Data Center Services team, ensuring high availability for agency networks and cloud/SDN initiatives. You will work on configuring, installing, debugging, and maintaining network gear, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet service levels. The position includes on-call after hours and on-site work three days a week, contributing to secure, reliable network services. You will help translate complex tech concepts for non-technical stakeholders and build strong relationships with customers and vendors. This is a chance to shape state network architecture and support ongoing modernization efforts. Compensation / Benefits * Support WAN/LAN/Wireless networks and SDN/cloud initiatives * Configure, install, debug, repair, monitor, and maintain network equipment * Support state WAN/backbone and agency LANs across remote sites * Provide after-hours support via paid on-call rotation * Be on-site in Salem, OR three days per week and report to the State Data Center * Assist in explaining technical issues to non-technical customers and stakeholders Tasks * Five (5) years of information systems experience in managing Large WAN enterprises with remote sites, MPLS and BGP; OR an Associate’s degree in CS/IT related field or equivalent vocational training plus three (3) years of WAN/MPLS/BGP experience; OR a Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS related field plus one (1) year of WAN/MPLS/BGP experience * Experience configuring, installing, repairing, and maintaining LAN, wireless, and WAN in Cisco and Juniper environments * Demonstrated network troubleshooting ability * Experience with network monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds and Statseeker * Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical customers and peers * Strong relationship-building with customers, peers, and vendors * Clear written communication and adherence to procedures Key requirements * Comprehensive Health Coverage: medical, vision, dental * Life insurance, disability, and flexible spending accounts * Generous Paid Time Off: holidays, personal leave, vacation * Career development opportunities * Hybrid work environment * On-site work three days per week
