Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will apply advanced data science, ML, and statistical methods to nuclear nonproliferation and national security challenges. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to build analytic capabilities for material detection, safeguards, and fuel-cycle analysis. You will contribute to scientific software, data-driven methods, and impactful research that supports mission goals. This position offers opportunities to shape next-generation analytics and software for complex national security problems. Compensation / Benefits * Conduct research and development applying ML, statistics, optimization, and data science to nonproliferation challenges * Develop, evaluate, and apply data-driven algorithms based on problem characteristics and data availability * Create and maintain scientific software and analytic tools for advanced data analysis and decision support * Collaborate with domain scientists and software engineers to integrate analytics into mission applications * Design computational studies to assess algorithm performance, quantify uncertainty, and generate insights from complex datasets * Communicate findings via technical reports, publications, presentations, and sponsor interactions * Contribute to proposal development and new research initiatives * Ensure work follows ORNL policies for safety and security Tasks * PhD in a quantitative field or MS with at least two years of relevant experience * Experience applying ML, statistical analysis, optimization, or related data science techniques * Experience developing software for scientific computing, data analysis, or ML applications * Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries * Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences Key requirements *
