Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior GCP Software Engineer for a cutting-edge wildfire risk modeling and simulation technology company. This candidate will serve as a key technical contributor responsible for developing the cloud platform that powers large-scale simulation workloads and delivers critical risk intelligence to customers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in backend software engineering, Google Cloud Platform, API development, cloud security, and distributed systems. This individual will work closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to build reliable, scalable infrastructure while helping shape the future architecture of a mission-driven product used by insurance carriers, utilities, municipalities, and fire agencies. Requirements

7+ years of professional software engineering experience
Strong Python development experience for backend services and data processing
3+ years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience
Experience building and supporting production backend systems
Experience designing and deploying customer-facing APIs (REST, gRPC, or GraphQL)
Authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant access control experience
Docker and Kubernetes experience
Strong cloud and application security knowledge
Experience with logging, monitoring, observability, metrics, and tracing
Experience operating cloud-based applications in production environments - Experience building developer-facing API products
API versioning, rate limiting, and documentation experience
Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code experience
CI/CD pipeline development and automation
Experience orchestrating large-scale batch or scientific computing workloads
Experience handling sensitive or regulated customer data
Startup or early-stage company experience
Geospatial data experience
Simulation pipeline experience
High-performance computing (HPC) exposure
Experience supporting insurance, financial, utility, or government-related technology environments
