Job description

NorthStar Energy Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Support Technician to join our team. In this entry-level role, you will serve as the first point of contact for employees experiencing technical issues, providing timely Tier 1 support and ensuring minimal disruption to day-to-day operations. This position is ideal for candidates who are eager to grow their IT career in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. What You’ll Do:

  • Respond to help desk tickets, phone calls, and walk-up requests in a professional and timely manner
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end users (Tier 1 support)
  • Set up, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
  • Install, update, and maintain operating systems and software applications
  • Create, manage, and disable user accounts in Active Directory and Microsoft 365
  • Document issues and resolutions accurately
  • Escalate complex issues to Tier 2/3 support teams when necessary
  • Maintain inventory of IT assets, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist with onboarding of new employees (hardware setup, account provisioning)
  • Travel 40% of the time
  • Respond to onsite troubleshooting remote offices

Requirements

Do you have experience in Zendesk?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred

  • 0-2 years of IT support or help desk experience (internships and academic projects count)
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems (Windows 11)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a ticket-based environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a constantly evolving technology environment
  • CompTIA A+ certification (or actively pursuing) preferred
  • Experience with Active Directory and user account management preferred
  • Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Zendesk) preferred
  • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) preferred
  • Experience with remote desktop tools (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk, Remote Desktop Protocol) preferred
