Job description

Experteer Overview In this Senior Engineer role, you design, build, and safeguard software across GM’s Product Validation, Safety & Quality IT, spanning regulatory compliance, safety systems, and quality engineering for vehicle programs. You may lead end-to-end feature work across the stack or focus on test automation and quality engineering to improve reliability. You’ll collaborate with architects, data scientists, and stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, reusable solutions while coaching peers. A key hook is shaping Nextgen applications within a regulated, data-driven environment to support safe, compliant vehicle programs. Compensation / Benefits * Design and maintain backend microservices in Java (Quarkus or Spring Boot) with REST/GraphQL APIs and versioned contracts * Develop frontend features in Next.js/React with TypeScript and Apollo for GraphQL access * Create and support Databricks data workflows feeding regulatory reporting and dashboards * Evolve relational schemas (PostgreSQL/Oracle) with versioned Liquibase changesets * Write clean, well-documented, testable code aligned to design patterns and standards * Perform code reviews and implement unit/integration/end-to-end tests (TestNG, Selenium, BrowserStack) * Diagnose and resolve issues across services, portal, and data pipelines using observability tools (Datadog, App Insights) * Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, security scanning) and keep main releasable * Translate business/regulatory requirements into executable development work with stakeholders * Lead software design for scalability and reusability across UI to database layers Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience * 7+ years producing production software with strong Java/JVM depth (Quarkus or Spring Boot) * Full-stack capability from Next.js/React/TypeScript frontend to Java backend to data layer * End-to-end ownership of design, from UI through service to database with scalability in mind * Experience designing and operating RESTful and GraphQL APIs with versioning and security best practices * Relational database experience (PostgreSQL or Oracle) with ORM (Hibernate/JPA) and Liquibase migrations * Knowledge of data-lakehouse platforms (Databricks/Delta/Unity Catalog) and data models * Experience deploying services on Azure (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS) and container registries * Proficiency with Git and GitHub Actions; CI/CD and automated quality scans * Infrastructure as Code (Terraform); data movement patterns and ETL/ELT best practices * Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum environments * Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Key requirements * relocation benefits * Total Rewards resources
