Job description
The Prototype & Launch Leader (PLL) leads and coordinates all pre-serial build activities within the project lifecycle. The PLL is accountable for the overall planning, coordination, build and delivery of all pre-serial means required to enable vehicle, propulsion system, and transmission development.
The PLL ensures all stakeholders involved in preserial build activities are aligned, manages the constraints such as build and release capacity and mitigates risks to ensure pre-serial transmission builds and deliveries to the internal and external clients are achieved in line with the agreed project objectives
Main Responsibilities
Prototype Planning & Governance
- Define prototype build & delivery plan aligned with project milestones (DV, PV, validation phases) and demand planning from external clients (vehicle teams, other PRs project teams,…)
- Establish and maintain prototype build plan, including volumes, configuration, and timing
- Ensure alignment with overall program planning and key milestone
Build Preparation & Execution
- Coordinate preparation of parts, kits, and configurations for prototype builds
- Ensure readiness of BOM, engineering maturity, and release status before builds
- Lead prototype build events incl readiness checks
Cross-functional Coordination
- Interface with:
- Engineering teams (product definition, changes)
- Protoshop & Manufacturing plants (build capacity, feasibility)
- Supply chain (parts availability)
- Quality (issue tracking, feedback from the builds)
- Ensure clear communication and alignment across all stakeholders
Issue Management & Reporting
- Track prototype build issues (missing parts, quality deviations, configuration gaps)
- Ensure quick escalation and resolution of blocking points
- Provide regular reporting on build status, risks, and mitigation actions
Change & Configuration Alignment
- Ensure prototype builds reflect the correct engineering level and configuration baseline
- Coordinate with Change/Configuration Management to integrate latest updates
- Maintain traceability between prototype builds, product and project evolutions
Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all prototype/pre-serial launch and build-related activities.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management to ensure build readiness and alignment.
- Ensure clear communication of prototype plans, build status, risks, and issues across all stakeholders.
Requirements
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial, or similar)
- Or equivalent experience in automotive development, manufacturing, or project management
Experience:
-
5 years of experience in automotive or equivalent environment
- Strong knowledge of project coordination, prototype, or pre-series activities is a strong plus
- Experience working
- with manufacturing, supply chain, or prototype workshops
- in planning, build activities, or industrialization is a strong plus
- with data tracking and reporting
- Good understanding of product development and lifecycle management principles.
