Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure, GDC VM Management

Experteer Overview As a Software Engineer on Google’s Distributed Cloud VM team, you will shape VM products for air-gapped and connected environments, delivering scalable virtualization in private clouds. You will work cross-functionally to build, test, and debug VM technology leveraging Kubernetes, QEMU, KubeVirt, and Linux internals. You will handle end-to-end VM features, from compute and storage to networking and GPUs, while maintaining secure and stable workloads. This role offers a chance to influence large-scale cloud infrastructure and stay at the forefront of distributed systems engineering. Compensation / Benefits * Develop VM products for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), including air-gapped and connected variants * Debug and stabilize testing platforms to support demanding customer workloads * Build and debug a VM cloud product using Kubernetes, QEMU, KubeVirt, KVM, Go, C, shell scripting, and Linux internals * Contribute to low-level networking, compute, storage, and GPU integration Tasks * 5 years of software development experience in GoLang * 5 years of experience with network architecture * Experience with distributed computing, distributed processing, and systems infrastructure * Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) or Linux internals/kernel interfaces * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience Key requirements * bonus target * equity * benefits
