Embedded Software Engineer - Level 3 or 4 (AHT)

Experteer Overview As an Embedded Software Engineer in Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems, you will develop flight software platforms supporting national and global security missions. You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to define requirements, verification plans, and integration strategies for spacecraft software and hardware-in-the-loop systems. The role emphasizes hands-on embedded development, performance tuning, and thorough documentation to enable external customers. This onsite, 9/80 role in Dulles offers impactful work at the intersection of software and space hardware. Compensation / Benefits * Develop embedded software modules interfacing with hardware protocols (UART, Synchronous Serial, MIL-STD-1553, SPACEWIRE, SPI, IO) * Define flight-software requirements, testing and verification plans with other disciplines * Develop and configure board support packages (BSPs) and integrate device drivers * Perform trade studies via computer simulation or development kits * Collaborate with engineers to integrate spacecraft components and flight software with simulation platforms * Contribute to hardware-definition, software design, development, debugging, and integration on simulation and hardware-in-the-loop platforms * Analyze system resources to improve efficiency, stability, and processing speed * Prepare design documentation, analysis, test results, and presentations for internal/external customers * Assist in diagnosing root causes during software installation, integration, AT/operational events * Operate in an innovative, cross-functional team environment * Other duties as assigned Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field and professional experience (or higher degrees with adjusted experience) * Active U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance, current and in-scope, U.S. citizenship required * Proficiency in C/C++, Python; MATLAB * Excellent communication and ability to work in small teams * Ability to debug hardware and software * Experience with software revision control tools (Subversion, Git) * Ability to document and present technical/status updates to management * Core affinity and parallel processing experience; understanding of concurrent vs parallel processing * Familiarity with Stellar or CFS Key requirements * health insurance * life and disability insurance * savings plan * Company paid holidays * paid time off (PTO)
