Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will lead and shape the organisation’s core infrastructure with a cloud-first mindset, focusing on modern cloud technologies and hybrid environments. You’ll design, deliver, and continuously improve high-value technology solutions aligned to organisational priorities, while championing security, resilience, and cost efficiency. You will translate complex technical concepts for stakeholders and drive cross-team collaboration to enhance service availability and decision-making. This senior role offers a meaningful impact on public safety through scalable, modern IT platforms and innovative automation. Pay / Benefits * Design, implement, and support solutions across Microsoft Entra (hybrid identity), Exchange (on-premises and/or online), PKI, and Azure cloud technologies * Promote a cloud-first approach and modernise legacy platforms to ensure scalable, secure, and resilient architectures * Lead design authority, provide expert technical assurance, and produce high-quality documentation * Drive Azure cost management and leverage AI tools and automation to improve operational efficiency and service delivery * Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity design/validation in line with policy * Manage full production lifecycle of platforms (installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, continuous improvement) * Support across multiple locations, including travel, with willingness to work unsocial hours as needed * Ensure alignment with best practices and organisational standards * Support deployment decisions and cost-efficient operational strategies to balance quality and value * Foster collaboration across teams and partners to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders Tasks * Strong leadership, design authority, and quality assurance across core infrastructure platforms * Experience with cloud technologies and hybrid environments, especially Azure * Knowledge of Microsoft Entra, Exchange, PKI, and Azure cloud * Ability to manage cloud costs and optimise consumption * Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning * Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders * Proactive, adaptable, and able to handle changing priorities and emerging technologies * Willingness to travel across multiple locations and operate in flexible hours * Full UK driving licence * Secondment or fixed-term contract familiarity or willingness to work within those terms Key requirements * 24 days annual leave (pro rata for part-time) * flexible working conditions * lifestyle discounts * local government pension scheme option * dedicated Welfare team and wellbeing initiatives * career development opportunities
