AI Technical Lead

This is a senior, hands-on role sitting at the intersection of AI strategy, architecture and engineering. You will help define the technical direction while remaining close enough to the technology to guide architecture decisions, solve complex engineering challenges and ensure AI solutions can move successfully from concept into production. As AI Technical Lead, you will provide technical leadership across multiple AI initiatives, working with engineering teams, architects, product leaders and senior business stakeholders.

You will help establish how AI is designed, governed, integrated and deployed across complex enterprise environments, with a particular focus on scalable, secure and production-ready solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the technical design and delivery of enterprise AI and Generative AI programmes
• Define scalable AI architectures capable of supporting production workloads
• Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
• Lead the development of AI agents, agentic workflows and multi-agent systems
• Evaluate and implement modern open-source AI frameworks, models and tooling
• Design solutions integrating LLMs, enterprise data, APIs and existing business systems
• Provide technical leadership across AI engineering and architecture teams
• Establish engineering standards, AI governance and responsible AI practices
• Support the transition of AI prototypes and proof-of-concepts into secure, scalable production solutions
• Mentor engineers and raise technical capability across the wider team
• Work directly with senior stakeholders and executives to translate business challenges into practical AI solutions, You can discuss AI strategy with senior leadership and then work directly with engineering teams to turn that strategy into something that actually works. Package

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical depth with the ability to lead AI delivery within a large enterprise environment.

You should have experience across several of the following areas:

• Enterprise AI or Generative AI architecture
• Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• AI agents and agentic architectures
• Multi-agent systems and orchestration
• Open-source AI models, frameworks and tooling
• Python and modern AI engineering practices
• Cloud-based AI architectures across AWS, Azure or GCP
• APIs, microservices and enterprise integrations
• Vector databases, embeddings and semantic search
• AI security, governance, evaluation and responsible AI
• Taking AI solutions from prototype through to production

You do not need to be tied to one particular AI platform or vendor. We are particularly interested in people with a strong understanding of the wider AI ecosystem who can assess technologies objectively and select the right approach for the problem. About You

You are likely to be an experienced AI Technical Lead, AI Architect, Lead AI Engineer, Generative AI Lead, Principal AI Engineer or AI Solutions Architect who is comfortable operating across both technical and business environments.
