Job description
The Utah State Tax Commission is seeking an experienced Senior Application Developer with extensive GenTax development experience to support enterprise tax applications. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing GenTax solutions while collaborating with business and technical teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in GenTax (FAST Enterprises), C#, SQL, Visual Studio, SOAP/REST APIs, system analysis, and workflow design. Roles & Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain applications within the GenTax (FAST Enterprises) platform. Develop scalable solutions using C#, SQL, and Microsoft Visual Studio. Create, enhance, and consume RESTful and SOAP Web Services/APIs. Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Perform system analysis, workflow analysis, and solution design. Troubleshoot production issues and resolve application defects. Optimize SQL queries and improve application performance. Participate in software maintenance, enhancements, upgrades, and new development projects. Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership. Requirements
Document technical designs, implementation details, and support procedures. Required Skills 5+ years of GenTax (FAST Enterprises) development experience. Strong programming experience with C# and SQL. Experience developing applications using Microsoft Visual Studio. Hands-on experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and SOAP Web Services. Strong SQL development, query optimization, and database troubleshooting skills. Experience gathering business requirements and converting them into technical solutions. Strong understanding of software design, system integration, and workflow processes. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Skills Experience with Utah Tax Commission or other government tax systems. Knowledge of Motor Vehicle, Property Tax, or Tax Processing applications. Experience with GenTax upgrades and data conversion projects. Experience mentoring development teams. IT Architecture experience is a plus. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
