Job description

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Application Developer with extensive knowledge of the GenTax system to join an IT development team supporting critical tax and motor vehicle applications. The Senior Application Developer will design, develop, implement, maintain, and optimize solutions within the GenTax environment, supporting business functions across Motor Vehicle Title and Registration, Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Tax Processing, and Property Tax. This contract has the potential to go until 2031. This role will be heavily involved in the analysis, design, and implementation of maintenance, system upgrades, integrations, and new development initiatives within GenTax, a COTS software platform from Fast Enterprises. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in C#, SQL, API development, system analysis, and requirements gathering, along with the ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to other developers., * Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software solutions within the GenTax system using C# and SQL.

  • Develop advanced SQL queries and database solutions to support business and application requirements.
  • Consume, modify, and create SOAP and RESTful API services and integrations.
  • Gather and analyze functional and business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
  • Perform system analysis and develop effective workflow and process designs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, and other technical teams to design and implement solutions.
  • Participate in maintenance, upgrades, data conversion initiatives, and new development projects within the GenTax environment.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure solutions adhere to established coding standards, development practices, and architectural guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues involving application functionality, performance, databases, and integration points.
  • Identify existing or potential technical and business problems and recommend effective solutions.
  • Analyze system impacts and dependencies when implementing changes or enhancements.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, development practices, and industry trends and recommend opportunities for process and technical improvements.
  • Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentorship to junior and other team members.
  • Work independently while effectively collaborating within a cross-functional development team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing and developing solutions within the GenTax system.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with C# and SQL, including development using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Proven experience consuming, updating, and creating SOAP and RESTful API services.
  • Strong experience gathering and analyzing functional requirements and translating them into technical requirements and specifications.
  • Experience with system analysis, workflow design, and business process analysis.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders., * Strong understanding of tax administration and motor vehicle business processes in relation to the GenTax system.
  • Experience with GenTax/DSVS products from Fast Enterprises.
  • Experience implementing data conversion processes as part of software version upgrades.
  • Experience working with enterprise-level tax administration systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience mentoring developers and providing technical guidance to team members of varying skill levels.
