Job description

The Information System Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, supporting staffing processes, and optimizing system functionality within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment. This role serves as a cross-functional resource to Human Resources, Payroll, and Business and Finance by providing data analysis, reporting, and process improvement. This role ensures data accuracy, compliance, and alignment across the full employee lifecycle, while advancing system automation, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district., 1. Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and maintenance of employee master data, position control, and HR/payroll records within BusinessPLUS, including regular audits and reconciliations.

  1. Process workforce actions including hires, transfers, reassignments, reclasses, and staffing plan changes to ensure accurate system processing and downstream payroll impact.
  2. Assist with updating system tables (e.g., pay tables, calendars, position coding) and manage key annual processes such as fiscal year rollover, step increases, and salary updates.
  3. Coordinate HR/payroll integration including retro pay, contract updates, and pay class changes to ensure accuracy and consistency across pay cycles.
  4. Identify, investigate, and resolve system errors, data discrepancies, and process breakdowns; collaborate with IT to implement system enhancements and data solutions.
  5. Evaluate HRIS and staffing processes and lead initiatives to improve efficiency, automate workflows, and enhance system functionality (e.g., position control, electronic processing).
  6. Prepare and validate internal and external reports (e.g., BEDS, funding reports) and ensure compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  7. Respond to employee and stakeholder inquiries; maintain documentation of procedures, business rules, and staffing/payroll practices to ensure consistency and transparency.
  8. Maintain professional learning and growth through professional organizations, seminars, course work, and collaboration.
  9. Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree in human resources, business, or information systems or equivalent combination of education and five years of experience
  • Work Experience: Three years of experience with information systems
  • Licensure or Certification: N/A

  2. Experience working with ERP and HRIS systems.
  3. Effective written and oral communication and presentation techniques.

  7. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  8. Demonstrates courtesy, tact, and sound judgement in handling sensitive or confidential situations.
  9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
