Job description
Experteer Overview As Principal Engineer you lead the design and hands-on building of Costco’s unified AI Platform as a Service. You transform foundation models into a scalable, multi-tenant AI stack that powers semantic discovery, conversational intelligence, and autonomous agents across the enterprise. You balance coding core orchestration engines with platform strategy to enable secure, governed AI-enabled operations. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish reusable patterns and drive integration standards that support AI-readiness and data-driven decision making. This role offers the chance to shape Costco’s AI Operating System and influence the future of enterprise-wide AI, security, and Compensation / Benefits * Lead architecture and hands-on development of the unified AI platform * Design and implement API management, gateways, ESB, and event-driven data flows * Collaborate with data science to expose ML models via endpoints (Google Vertex AI) * Mentor teams and promote AI fluency, tooling, and responsible governance * Develop and document deployment, monitoring, and maintenance mechanisms * Ensure security, compliance, and adherence to enterprise standards * Drive integration patterns to support legacy data modernization and API-first strategy * Evaluate and adopt AI-assisted developer tools and improve delivery quality Tasks * 7+ years installing/configuring DataPower, Apigee, or similar tech * 7+ years deploying services or APIs * 7+ years with SAML, XACML, OAUTH security * 7+ years designing service registries and repositories * 7+ years scripting for automation * Experience with distributed hybrid multi-cloud architectures * Strong understanding of IAM patterns and security practices * Experience with ESB, middleware (WAS), and data integration patterns * Proven leadership across development lifecycles * AI fluency and experience with AI tooling siognitive governance Key requirements * paid time off * health benefits (medical/dental/vision) * 401(k) * stock purchase plan * RSU eligible * disability and life insurance
