Job description
We are looking for a Junior AI Implementation Specialist to join our team and assist with technical workflows for our partner based in Brussels. This role focuses on using automation and data tools to verify the economic logic behind high stakes business decisions. About Blue Oak Consulting Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction., In this position, you will work directly with our senior principals to develop and deploy automated workflows that assist our analysis of complex business cases. Our current project for a Brussels based partner involves high volumes of financial and operational data that must be categorized and cleaned before we can reach a conclusion. You will find ways to use AI tools and scripts to handle these tasks efficiently, ensuring that our team can focus on the underlying economic logic rather than raw data entry. This is a fully remote role that requires a high degree of self organization and a focus on producing accurate work without constant supervision. What You Will Be Doing
- Building simple scripts or using low code tools to extract and organize data from financial reports and acquisition documents.
- Testing the accuracy of automated summaries against original source files to ensure no logic is lost.
- Developing data pipelines that feed directly into our financial and pricing models.
- Collaborating with senior staff to identify areas where technical automation can reduce manual errors in our analysis.
- Documenting the logic behind each implementation to ensure we can clearly explain our findings to the partner in Brussels.
- Monitoring the output of automated systems to catch errors or data inconsistencies early in the process.
- Converting unstructured qualitative data from interviews or PDFs into structured formats for portfolio analysis.
Requirements
- A degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, mathematics, economics, or finance.
- Basic familiarity with Python or similar languages for data manipulation and task automation.
- An analytical mindset that naturally questions the validity of a data source.
- High attention to detail, specifically when auditing the output of technical tools.
- Comfort working within Excel and a willingness to learn how to connect spreadsheets with more advanced AI tools.
- The ability to explain technical processes in plain English to colleagues who are focused on finance and strategy.
- A curious approach to how businesses function and a desire to learn about capital allocation.
Benefits & conditions
- Competitive pay that is attractive for an entry level position in the current market.
- Direct mentorship from senior principals who value logical rigor and honest feedback.
- The opportunity to apply emerging technology to high stakes financial advisory work.
- A professional culture that avoids corporate jargon and emphasizes direct communication.
- Practical training on how to evaluate acquisition and pricing assumptions using a skeptical lens.
About the company
At Blue Oak Consulting, we believe that technology is only useful if it leads to better commercial decisions. We do not implement AI for its own sake: we use it to see through the noise of corporate reporting and find the truth in the numbers. You will be joining a team that values precision over broad generalizations and skepticism over hype. Our work is demanding because the questions we answer for our Brussels partner are difficult, but the environment is supportive and focused on genuine professional development.
