Job description

  • Own the design and engineering data for new and existing products.
  • Create high-quality 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Take designs from concept * development * validation * production.
  • Lead the early design stages of APQP/NPI projects.
  • Collaborate with test engineers on verification, validation and FMEA-led testing.
  • Identify opportunities for VAVE, material improvements and new manufacturing techniques.
  • Continuously improve existing products, processes and designs., * You’ll actually see your work being made.
  • Your desk is on the same site as the manufacturing operation, so you can walk from your CAD screen to the production floor and see your designs taking shape.

This is a hands-on role focused on developing new products, improving existing designs, and working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Duties

  • Design and develop new product concepts through to final production designs
  • Modify and improve existing products as directed by the Engineering Manager
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to support product development
  • Provide initial design concepts to support the Sales team
  • Work closely with Production to ensure efficient assembly and manufacture

  • Ongoing development and improvement opportunities, Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of electronic system design, ensuring designs are robust and developed to a high quality and standard.

Covering the whole spectrum from concept to production across the entire range of products this role will focus on new product development and include a variety of short and long-term projects., Develop robust, reliable and future-proof solutions to support data acquisition and control of new products including:

  • Printed circuit board design, development and validation
  • Firmware development and validation
  • Integration with third party controllers, transducers, instrumentation, drives, etc

Current Product and Production Support

  • Find solutions to component obsolescence to maintain product continuity and lead times
  • Support Customer Services in the resolution of electronics related issues
  • Support End-of-line testing and debugging of newly built products & pre-production prototypes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers

Compliance

  • Ensure electronic systems comply with electrical safety, EMC, REACH, RoHS regulations, etc
  • Effective documentation of designs and firmware including design changes, * The Senior Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for executing concept design, product development, design for manufacture, firmware development, certification and production test.
  • You will work within a wider team that includes project management, mechanical / industrial design, software, test and compliance., * Design and development of new products, parts and components from concept through to final product.
  • Produce Schematics, PCB layouts, PCB CAD Multilayer, Detailed assembly drawings, Bills of Materials incompliance with IPC and ISO9001 standards.
  • Carrying out design calculations and analysis to satisfy all aspects of design including cost efficiency.
  • Ensure EMC compliance, and product meets electrically safety requirements.
  • Work with a wider software / firmware team and able to make firmware contributions at lower level.
  • Work with suppliers / manufacturers and provide technical documentation and test specifications.
  • The accurate estimation of project completion time, manage workflow, milestones and reporting.
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times, both internally and externally. Follow the published processes and comply with all company policies and procedures., * This is a newly created Refrigeration Design Engineer role which will involve supporting existing refrigeration-based products while also designing and developing new products to expand the company’s offering across multiple ranges. The position combines hands-on engineering, system design, and product development within a multidisciplinary environment., * Produce detailed 3D CAD models and fully dimensioned engineering drawings.
  • Perform thermodynamic calculations and system simulations to support design decisions.
  • Select appropriate components including compressors, heat exchangers, expansion devices, and refrigerants.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g. PED, CE marking, safety requirements).
  • Build and test prototypes, analysing system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Support manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle., * Component Sourcing: Purchase 3rd party automation components and custom manufactured components, in line with project schedules.
  • Liaise with engineers to ensure component specifications are communicated clearly to suppliers (e.g. materials, surface finish, inspection, certification requirements).
  • Suppliers: Review with procurement/engineers to select appropriate suppliers. Order placement conducted via web ordering systems, email, and telephone correspondence.
  • Cost Awareness: Compare supplier quotations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Data Management: Highly detailed person to maintain procurement trackers and generate accurate purchase order records using in-house software.
  • Proactive communication: Update engineers on part lead times, and order statuses when things shift. Utilise and update internal delivery tracking systems.
  • Bill of material (BOM)/Stock Management - Receive and check incoming products, verify deliveries against purchase orders, update inventory levels, and maintain accurate stock records to ensure effective stock control in platform delivery department.
  • Resolve supplier queries and delivery issues promptly, liaising with engineers where necessary., I have a fantastic opportunity for a maintenance team leader to join a well-known company based near Wolverhampton and Dudley. Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Design - or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong commercial experience taking mechanical designs from concept through to manufacture.
  • Advanced SolidWorks skills, including complex assemblies and detailed production drawings.
  • Good knowledge of APQP, DFM/DFMA, FMEA and VAVE.
  • Experience designing for sheet metal fabrication and assembly would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of aluminium extrusions, including design and manufacturing limitations.
  • Experience with plastic injection mouldings, including tooling and material considerations., * Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360)
  • A sharp eye for detail and engineering accuracy
  • Someone who enjoys solving problems, not creating them
  • Passion for engineering and design

  • Ideally Apprentice trained, or Degree educated with some work experience
